A message from the editor

Issue 12 of Black Fork Review is a story of transition and reinvention. The alphabet is reimagined; Jesus and Judas move toward their destinies; we consider mimesis and ghosts and “extreme medical solutions.” Something about this feels right to us, on our 12th issue – the full cycle of months, the face of the clock, the zodiac; of course the universe would send us a menagerie of ways to consider change. But we also walk the earth in a volatile era, all of us, and that’s not often painless and trauma-free. If 2025 has taught us anything, it’s that there is value in an aesthetic experience of the world, especially in a time of upheaval and disruption. It’s that the world could use more creative thrill, more playful challenge, more deep questioning, and above all else, more connection. From our tiny, sparkling corner of the universe, we hope this issue gives you some of these things to dazzle over. Thanks for reading.
